In the Pensky-Marten's closed cup flash point test, a brass test cup is filled with a test specimen and fitted with a cover. The sample is heated and stirred at specified ates depending on what it is that's being tested. An ignition source is directed into the cup at regular intervals with simultaneous interruption of stirring until a flash that spreads throughout the inside of the cup is seen. The corresponding temperature is its flash point. Pensky-Martens closed cup is sealed with a lid through which the ignition source can be introduced periodically. The vapour above the liquid is assumed to be in reasonable equilibrium with the liquid. Closed cup testers give lower values for the flash point (typically5-10 K) and are a better approximation to the temperature at which the vapour pressure reaches the Lower Flammable Limit (LFL).

This paper proposes a photovoltaic fed improved hybrid DSTATCOM for harmonic and reactive power compensation. The solar system is connected to the grid using a LCL passive filter with a series connected capacitor at the front end of voltage source inverter. The series capacitor helps in reducing the dc link voltage leading the reduction in the rating of DSTATCOM and so as also the solar system. The system is modelled and controlled by considering the non-linearity of the system. The Fuzzy logic controller is used to control the power flow from solar system and to maintain dc link voltage. To accomplish the arrangement robust, switching pulses for inverter is generated using sliding approach controller.Using Simulink, the behavior of the controllers for DC bus voltage and current control are investigated.

The environmental temperature variations in certain states of India like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh are becoming extreme from comfort point of view. Temperature ranges from 5˚C in winter to 50˚C in summer, against 24˚C, which is standard comfort condition for human being. These extreme temperatures are increasing load on Heating Ventilating and Air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. These extreme conditions do not allow atmosphere to be kept in direct communication with indoor room conditions. This lack of ventilation has a hazardous effect on human health. Small underground water tanks of capacities ranging from 3000 liters to 5000 liters are readily available in urban areas of India due to different reasons. These water bodies can be used as heat source or sink during winter or summer respectively. Earth Air Heat exchanger (EAHE) system is the leading contemporary approach to reduce Air-Conditioning loads on the system. The characteristic of earth strata at a depth of 3-4 m where temperature remains constant between 25˚C to 28˚C throughout the year by Vikas Bansal et al. [1]. This layer of earth can be used as heat source in winter and heat sink in summer. Metal or plastic pipes are laid at a depth of 3-4 m and in required length to remove heat from air. This heat is further dissipated in earth mass surrounding the pipes.

Hazard predictions must be anchored in very well established observational facts to be meaningful and trustworthy. We highlight observational facts with respect to sea level changes, and to access a recent, model-based, coastal hazard assessment for the New York City region. We conclude that available facts strongly support a modest rise in sea level during the future centuries, and that the model-based assessment totally fails in predicting future changes in a meaningful and realistic way.

Abstract       pdf Full text PDF

Diesel generating units (DG Sets) are widely used in various places, Diesel generators are used to produce electricity without connecting to a power grid. DG Sets are used for the emergency power supply as well as it is used where electrical power is not available. DG Set Installation requires to be carried out as per Standard Installation guidelines to ensure satisfactory operation of the DG set. Installation guideline provides the detailed guideline for theinstallation of DG sets. Other than technical compliance in installation, it must comply with Local / State / Central Government and all other Statutory regulatory requirements as applicable. Installation Guidelines provides the detailed guideline & specification which helps to install the DG Sets properly hence quality of the DGsets can be maintained. For safe & smooth operation of DG set and increase their efficiency which may leads to customer satisfaction. Proper installation of DG sets can reduce several maintenance work & servicing activities.

In the light of the high practical relevance of assembly line balance(ALB),it is not astounding that a massive body of academic literature covers configuration planning of assembly system. This paper focus is on practical application of the theorem of ALB.we look at line that is being used in bicycle assembly by identifying the parts and procedures.the precedence diagram of part constructed and workstation defined with cycle time of 18seconds.idle time eliminated and workstation constraint optimized.

A field study was conducted in Benin-Sapele locale of Niger Delta to understand the role of influencive factors identified to be associated with delay causation in seismic reconnaissance. The principal component analysis (PCA) of Factor Analysis was used to analyse a total of 262 daily observations of time(in hours)encountered in seismic surveys undertaken in the locale thereof. The PCA employed was effective in achieving parsimony by reducing the factor dimension from fourteen variables to mere five platoons which were creatively labelled: data sampling activities, logistics, permission matters, instrument integrity, and random events. Our results suggest that human factors, terrain and logistics are the most offensive influences and that the perceived current restiveness in the region is a backlash of unfettered exploration and roduction activities.............

This paper describes the effective productivity in construction through labour management, Construction is the second largest industry after agriculture in India. The most challenging issue in construction industry is effective productivity and good labour performance. In construction productivity has direct interrelationship with the three constraints there are time, cost and quality. The objectives of this research investigate identification factors reducing and increasing productivity in construction through labour management. The principal tool used for collection of data questionnaire survey; questionnaires for field survey. Data for the survey are obtained through a structured questionnaire administrated to respondents in number 122. The respondents involve 80 labours and 42 managerial peoples..............
