The aim of this study is to document the changes in anatomy and dose distribution observed in patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer who are undergoing radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy. 25 patients, who had been diagnosed with head and neck cancer, were included in our study. Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) was taken every other day and fused with images provided by CT. If tumor volume decreased, Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) images were taken. By integrating MRI and CT images, critical organs and Planning Target Volume (PTV) were recontoured. Using the new contours, new Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART) plan were made. The initial treatment plan and the ART plan were compared using T-Testing. If there was a significant difference, patients continued with treatment with the new ART plan. When the adaptive plan was made, there was a significant decrease in critical organ doses.............

Artificial neural networks (ANNs) have been applied extensively in recent years due to their excellent pattern recognition ability that is useful for structural damage identification purposes. When damage happens in a structure the consequence is a change in its modal parameters such as natural frequencies and mode shapes. Natural frequencies of a structure have a strong effect on damage and are applied as effective input parameters to train the ANN. In this research, a sensitivity analysis is implemented to investigate the sensitivity of the ANNs and to find the most accurate modal parameters as inputs to the network for the damage identification of structures.............

The present work deals with the ab initio structure determination and study the crystal chemistry of the heavy metal framework in Bi0.245 Pb2.351 U1.25 Zr0.8 O4.5 from precession X-ray diffraction intensities. The metal framework of the compound was solved in this investigation via direct methods by ab initio method from precession XRD diffraction intensities recorded with a Philips EM400 at 100 kV. A subsequent (kinematical) least-squares refinement with X-ray intensities yielded slightly improved co-ordinates for the 11 heavy atoms in the structure. Chemical analysis of several crystallites by EDX is inagreementwiththeformulaBi0.245Pb2.351U1.25Zr0.8O4.5.Moreover, the structure was independently determined by Rietveld refinement from X-ray powder data obtained from a multi-phasic sample using JANA computer software programme. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system and space group P-1 with refined lattice parameters a=6.3458(Å), b=7.9400( Å ),c=9.1040(Å), α=77.3239° β=81.0395° γ=70.6732° The refinement values are Rwp = 0.0680, Rp = 0.030 and GOF=0.31 and the volume =420.132

Optimum base connections were found for steel gable or portal frames with different roof slope. Five locations, Detroit MI, Miami FL, Santa Barbara CA, St. Paul MN and Berlin NH, were chosen because they represented a variety of loading conditions. Multiple structures were designed for each location with span to height ratios from 1 to 10, and varying roof angles. Analysis was done for each case using ETABS. This provided patterns in stress efficiencies that the helped identify possible optimum base connection. Precise designs with the LRFD method were performed on both pin and fixed base connection for each span length in its optimum roof slope. It was found that for all locations and all geometries fixed base connection saves weight. The average savings was 20%. Primary factors in determining base connection in these situations were magnitude of loads and length of span.
